Citation

Denise has maintained a strong commitment to ensuring AAMT policies and programs reflect the Association’s F-12 charter through advocacy of the needs of primary aged children, their teachers and schools. She has done this directly during her time as a member of AAMT Council and her eight years on the Executive.

Before, during and since her formal involvement with AAMT Council she has been one who is willing to ‘roll up her sleeves’ and contribute to projects and initiatives. These include the Excellence in Teaching Mathematics: Professional Standards project, Reach for the Stars, Top Drawer Teachers and Connect with Maths.

Beyond this, Denise has always willingly provided input and advice to staff and others about matters relating to early childhood and primary mathematics education. She has freely shared her knowledge and insights whenever asked, drawing on her extensive connections with teachers, schools and national and international developments in the field.

Denise Neal is a committed mathematics educator with an emphasis in early childhood and primary education complemented by an appreciation of more general influences, opportunities and constraints. She has given distinguished service to AAMT over an extended period of time and is a worthy recipient of the honour of being made a Life Member of AAMT.
